My fellow Sisters and Brothers,
It is with a sad heart that I write to let you know that I am leaving Kennecott after 20 years of service. I have accepted an offer to go to work for the Tesoro Oil Co. at their refinery in North Salt Lake. I will continue to be a United Steelworker, but with a different Local.
I did not come to this decision easily,but as you all know,lately the Refinery has become an unbearable place to work.
My replacement will be Shad Wright. Please get behind Shad and give him as much support as you gave me. As your Refinery Unit Chairman, I am sorry to leave you, but I know Shad is just as dedicated as I. I want to thank all of you for your support and I have much gratitude for the great job J.D.Moore and Skye Sargent are doing as our Grievance Committee. Please keep up the fight, and be sure to give your support to your Union leadership.
