To say the least, these have been challenging times since the slide occurred in the mine. You have all stepped up to the plate and your working hard to get the plants back to full production and your doing it safely. In spite of all you are doing, I am being told that in some areas management is criticizing the workers and blaming us when all we are doing is what they are telling us to do. They should be recognizing and appreciating all of the efforts you are putting forth. The Union leadership is doing all we can to stop the suppression and we are working with a few in management to influence those supervisors and others who are managing by using fear and intimidation.We will fight the company on all fronts until we get the respect we have earned.If you are having problems at your plant, your Unit Chair and I will meet with the appropriate people to get the harassment stopped. We need to work together to get the plants running correctly, and that will only happen thru mutual respect.
We just had another shop steward class last week at our Union hall. I want to thank those Union brothers and sisters who have stepped up lately and answered the call for more shop stewards in our local. But we still need more, if you are interested and would like to become more involved in your local, please get in touch with your unit chair.
