Many of you have told me that you dont like the way the Company is treating you in the workplace and that they are causing problems that dont need to be there. The only way we are going to fix those problems is by joining together as one voice, as brothers and sisters to combat the assault like tactics the company is engaging in. I can’t express enough how important it is that we come together as brothers and sisters to show the Company that we will not be treated this way.

On a better note the Christmas season is upon us so remember our Sub for Santa and give generously as you have in the past. I know its been a hard year for all of us here at work, but there are truly needy people who have so much less less than we do. We continue to make a difference for families that would have nothing for Christmas if it wasnt for us and those people are genuinely appreciative of our support.

Moving on to Safety, I want to thank Chad McDonald and Steve Canham for stepping up to be the new Union co-chairs of the Joint Safety Committee. They are replacing Gary Rawson and myself and they will do us a great job. Be sure to thank them for taking on this important position. I will share with them my experience of attending the Union sponsored Health and Safety Conference in Pittsburgh. it was a productive conference  There were people from OSHA and other safety related agencies that spoke. Other speakers talked about Union rights relating to safety in the plants. There were alot of great classes on how a Joint Health and Safety committee should function, another about OSHA reg’s and how to access them on the internet. I will work with Chad and Steve to help get things implemented over the next couple of weeks. Be safe and if you have any safety concerns, contact Steve or Chad to get any issue resolved.

Thank You,
Shad Wright,
Unit Chair, Refinery
