CALL TO ACTION

Time to Turn Up the Heat to Stop Fast Track!
Speak Up to Multiply Our Impact in Washington
All over the U.S., Steelworkers have been speaking out and standing up for jobs. They are attending rallies, writing thousands of letters and making their phone calls to tell Congress to oppose Fast Track. But now is the time to turn up the heat. With a Fast Track bill poised to be introduced early this week, we need as many voices saying NO to Fast Track as possible.
No trade deal, no matter how bad, has ever been defeated under Fast Track rules. These rules ensure that massive deals speed through Congress with little debate and no amendment.

With more massive lay-offs just announced in the steel industry, we have a stark reminder that our overall approach to trade policy is wrong. We need to have fair trade policies that don’t sent American jobs overseas and compromise workers’ rights and the environment!

Photo: Steelworkers in Granite City, Illinois, generated letters against Fast Track. They just received notice that their facility would idle, leaving over 2,000 unemployed. Illegal imports are throwing the U.S. industry into crisis.
Please do two things this week to fight against Fast Track!
On Wednesday, April 15th, over 600 Steelworkers will be flooding the halls of Congress lobbying against Fast Track. We need you to tie up the phones lines! The more calls we can get in this week, the more power our members have during their meetings.
1 – FIRST, call your U.S. Representative by dialing toll-free:

1-877-879-8951*

  • Share your name and where you’re calling from.
  • Ask your Representative to OPPOSE Fast Track legislation.

*If you have any issues calling, you can also try the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 or dial direct.

2 – SECOND, get to an event this week!

Steelworkers will be joining with allies on Wednesday for a Capitol Hill rally to kick off a “Week of Action” against Fast Track. Find an event near you by going tohttp://go.aflcio.org/fast-track-actions.
